    3.5 stars.

This restaurant replaced where Loui loui was. Although I was sad to see loui loui go, I was excited to try out a new restaurant. Allston is full of Korean restaurants so competition is fierce here. Kim's tofu only sells one thing, and as you can guess..it's Tofu! This makes choosing what you want to eat much easier. I came with some friends and since the menu is so limited, we were able to try everything on it.

I got the mild tofu with beef. Mild = no spicy flavor at all, so if you like some spice, get the medium. The beef was barely existent in my dish and the ratio of rice to tofu soup was a bit off as there was a lot more rice than tofu soup. Note: do not dump your rice into the tofu soup  or else you'll have no soup left to eat.

The complementary side dishes they provide were pretty good. We started off with each person receiving an individual fish and a bowl of tofu with soy sauce.

We ordered the seafood pancake which was made out of cornmeal? Not exactly sure but the texture was different. I don't really recommend it. The meat side dishes were pretty good, especially the kalbi, and the mackerel was good but nothing to rave about.

Overall, the food was fine but I wasn't super impressed and I'm not sure if I'll be craving tofu soup anytime soon.

Kim's Tofu is THE place to go in Boston for soondubu jigae. The wait is always long because the restaurant isn't that large and the food is delicious but it's so worth it. The best way to describe the food is just like your Korean Aunt would make it. Every dish including the side dishes were excellent and they weren't your standard Americanized Korean restaurant fare either.

At Kim's, some of the banchan highlights included the marinated shrimp and whole fish. The nutritious rice was another highlight and surprisingly filling dish--for an additional cost you can get purple rice, mushrooms, chickpeas and more.

Especially as the weather gets increasingly cold and dreary, the heat and spice of the soup warms the soul. Just writing the review is making me crave Kim's food all over again, and I cannot wait to go back.

I'm honestly not a huge soondubu-jjigae person, but Kim's Tofu has honestly won me over. It's cozy, hits the spot, and warms you up in an instant. Service is FANTASTIC and patient. I came last week with a big group, and our server was very thorough and waited for everyone to decide on what to order.

Throughout the meal, we received so many little bites that just made my experience better. After we placed our order, we began receiving little hors d'oeuvres. The first bowl was their homemade tofu, with a little soy sauce on the side. I enjoyed it because it was light and not too overpowering with salt! Next, we received unlimited banchan. It included shrimp (which I added into my tofu soup), kimchi, cucumbers, and potatoes. The usual banchan that you can find. I really enjoyed the cucumber as they were crisp and not spicy at all!

Now, onto the main entree! My boyfriend and I shared our order, which we got the mild beef soondubu, an order of the Kalbi, and the nutritious rice for an extra charge of $4.95. The nutritious rice is filling, so be warned! It's delicious though because it includes purple rice, chickpeas, lentils, and sweet potato! Not your ordinary white rice. They also give you a bowl of free white rice with any of the meat platters or tofu soups.  The beef tofu soup was very filling as well! I love the textures and I really liked the consistency of the soup. It had a good soup to tofu ratio, plus an egg added! Other tofu soup places put way too much tofu for my liking. The spice level was great too, but I wish I got medium. The Kalbi was probably my favorite. It was tender and just melts your soul. It literally fits the whole meal because it adds the perfect amount of flavor into your taste buds. They give a whomping good amount for the amount you pay for. I feel like Kim's Tofu's Kalbi is the best bang for your buck. To end your meal, they give you a small cup of cinnamon punch with pine nuts. So if you're allergic to nuts, be aware!!

I'm definitely coming back here when it's cold because Kim's Tofu fills every satisfaction that is needed to warm up your body and soul. Service is great and the food is also great as leftovers as they really give you more than expected. Can't wait to be back!

Relatively new to the Allston area, Kim's Tofu serves Korean classics while BTS - the best boy band in the universe, ARMY YOU KNOW, Jimin is my bias how bout' yours? I purple you! - jams out on the screens above. Make sure to order the nutritious rice!
